Best financial close software for 2027: 7 tools compared
Seven financial close tools for 2027 compared on fit, ERP approach, AI and evidence: BlackLine, Trintech, FloQast, Numeric, Rillet, Campfire and Yoraito.
The right financial close software depends on company size and whether your ERP stays. BlackLine and Trintech suit large enterprises; FloQast and Numeric suit mid-market teams; Rillet and Campfire replace the ledger with an AI-native ERP; Yoraito adds an evidenced close to your existing GL, with SQL behind every number. Shortlist by fit, then test on your own data.
Dek: Enterprise suites, close management tools and AI-native ERPs, compared on who they fit, what happens to your ERP and how a reviewer checks a number.
How we chose and compared
We included tools that run the month-end close (reconciliations, task management, variance analysis, review) for US finance teams, and grouped them by what they're best for rather than ranking them on a single score. For each one we looked at:
- Who it's built for (company size and team)
- Your ERP: does it stay, or does the tool replace it?
- AI: where it's used
- Evidence: how a reviewer or auditor checks a reported number
- Getting started: what the first close requires
Facts come from each vendor's public website and press as of October 2026. We don't publish other vendors' prices; all seven quote by deal.

| Trintech (Cadency, Adra) | Enterprise (Cadency); mid-market (Adra) | Stays | Workflow audit trail |
| FloQast | Mid-market to enterprise teams wanting a proven close workflow | Stays | Checklists and sign-offs |
| Numeric | Mid-market teams wanting a modern close workspace | Stays | Drill-down to transactions |
| Rillet | High-growth SaaS ready to replace its ledger | Replaced | In-product drill-down |
| Campfire | Series A–C software companies wanting a new GL | Replaced | In-product |

1. BlackLine: best for large enterprises
What it is: A financial close and controls platform founded in 2001 and listed on Nasdaq. Covers account reconciliations, transaction matching, task management, intercompany and more. Best for: Multinationals with many entities, currencies and a formal controls function. Consider: Implementation is usually a project with a partner; mid-market teams may not need the full scope. Compare: /compare/blackline
2. Trintech: best for complex enterprise close (Cadency) and its mid-market tier (Adra)
What it is: A long-established close and reconciliation vendor, PE-owned, with Cadency for enterprise and Adra for smaller teams. Best for: Large, complex organizations (Cadency); mid-market teams wanting a Trintech product (Adra). Consider: As with other enterprise suites, scope and implementation effort should match your team size.
3. FloQast: best for a proven, widely adopted close workflow
What it is: Close management software founded in 2013, built around checklists, reconciliations and sign-offs, with AI agents added more recently. Runs a certification program and an annual user conference. Best for: Mid-market and enterprise accounting teams that want a well-known workflow and community. Consider: Strong on organizing the close; ask how a reviewer reproduces a number. Compare: /compare/floqast
4. Numeric: best for a modern close workspace
What it is: Close management and reporting software founded in 2020, expanding toward a broader finance platform. Known for clear NetSuite content. Best for: Mid-market teams, especially on NetSuite, wanting a modern UI and reporting. Consider: Ask how evidence travels with each number to your auditor. Compare: /compare/numeric
5. Rillet: best for replacing your ledger with an AI-native ERP
What it is: An AI-native ERP combining GL, close, AR and AP, founded in 2021. Search interest in Rillet nearly doubled in the second half of 2026. Best for: High-growth SaaS companies ready to migrate off their current ledger. Consider: A ledger migration affects your chart of accounts, audit trail and integrations; time it with your audit. Compare: /compare/rillet
6. Campfire: best for startups choosing a new GL
What it is: An AI-native GL/ERP for venture-backed software companies, founded in 2023. Best for: Series A–C software companies replacing a starter ledger. Consider: Same migration considerations as any new ledger.
7. Yoraito: best when evidence matters as much as speed
What it is: A close and reconciliation layer that runs on your existing GL (22 named systems, 11 direct ). Every match, tie-out and variance is computed by SQL saved next to the result, so reviewers and auditors can rerun it. AI drafts explanations and labels them by how well they're supported. Best for: Mid-market finance teams, PE-backed portfolio companies, VC-backed startups facing a first audit, and CPA/CAS firms. Consider: Yoraito is a newer product; ask us for a scoped test on one month of your data. Multi-entity scope. Learn more: /solutions/financial-close-software

How to choose: five questions
- Is your ERP staying? If yes, rule out AI-native ERPs. If no, compare them first.
- How many entities and currencies? Many → enterprise suites. One to ten → mid-market tools.
- Who checks your numbers? If sponsors, lenders, buyers or auditors test them closely, weight evidence heavily.
- How soon do you need the next close to improve? Months-long implementations may miss your window.
- Do you need people as well as software? Some vendors offer assisted or managed close options.
A scorecard you can copy
Score each shortlisted tool from 1 (poor) to 5 (strong) after the demo and the data test. Adjust the weights to your situation; these suit a mid-market or PE-backed team.
| Criterion | Weight | What a 5 looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Fit for your size and entity count | 15% | Built for teams like yours; references at your scale |
| ERP approach | 15% | Matches your plan (keep or replace) |
| Evidence and reproducibility | 25% | Auditor can reproduce any reported number without the vendor |
| Reviewer experience | 15% | Reviewer sees why each item matched and where judgment is needed |
| AI controls | 10% | Clear on what AI does, labelled drafts, approvals before posting |
| Time to first live close | 10% | Dated plan with named owners |
| Support model | 10% | Software plus people if you need them |
What each type of tool is not built for
Being clear about this saves weeks of demos:
- Enterprise suites aren't built for a four-person team that needs results next month.
- Close checklist tools aren't primarily built to make every number reproducible outside the product.
- AI-native ERPs aren't for teams that need to keep their current ledger.
- Yoraito isn't an ERP, and isn't the right choice if you want one vendor for GL, AR, AP and close.
Run the same test on every shortlisted tool
Give each vendor the same month of real data and ask for:
- One bank reconciliation, tied to $0.00, with every reconciling item explained.
- Flux commentary for your three largest variances, with the transactions behind each.
- A demonstration of how your auditor would reproduce one number from each, without the vendor present.

The trend for 2027
Two shifts are shaping the category. First, newer vendors are expanding from close tools into broader finance platforms and ERPs. Second, auditors and standard-setters are paying closer attention to AI-prepared work: COSO published generative AI control guidance in 2026, and the PCAOB sought comment on data and technology. Expect "how was this number produced?" to become a standard evaluation question.
Frequently asked questions
What is financial close software?
Software that runs the month-end close: tasks, reconciliations, variance analysis, review, sign-off and period lock.
What's the best close software for a mid-sized company?
Mid-market teams most often shortlist FloQast, Numeric and Yoraito. Choose by how you want numbers evidenced and how quickly you need to start.
Do I need close software if I have NetSuite?
NetSuite holds the ledger and handles bank reconciliation; many teams add close software for balance sheet reconciliations, flux, task management and evidence. See /resources/netsuite-reconciliation.
What's the difference between close software and an AI-native ERP?
Close software runs the close on top of your existing ledger. An AI-native ERP replaces the ledger and includes close features.
How much does financial close software cost?
