The close, in seven steps
Yoraito follows the same order a good controller already uses → full guide: /resources/month-end-close.
| Step | What Yoraito does | What your team does |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Cut-off and accruals | Finds recurring vendors with no bill; estimates from history | Approves accruals |
| 2. Subledgers | Ties AP, AR and payroll to control accounts | Resolves breaks |
| 3. Reconciliations | Matches, tie-outs, rollforwards with saved SQL | Reviews and signs |
| 4. Flux | Finds the GL lines behind each change; drafts labelled commentary | Accepts or edits explanations |
| 5. Adjustments | Drafts entries from reconciling items | Approves; posts |
| 6. Review and sign-off | Records preparer, reviewer, dates and evidence | Signs; locks the period |
| 7. Reporting | Builds packs from the locked trial balance | Writes the narrative |
Close Workspace
Screen description (for the design team; see S2 screen): a three-pane workspace. Left: the close steps with status and owner. Centre: the selected item (a reconciliation, a flux line, an entry) with its evidence. Right: the review panel with preparer, reviewer, notes and the "View SQL" drawer.
What makes Yoraito different
Evidence on every number
Every figure is produced by a saved SQL query. A reviewer can open it, read it and rerun it on the same data to get the same answer. That's what auditors call reperformance, and it's what turns "we reviewed it" into "here's how to check it".
AI that's labelled, not trusted
AI drafts flux commentary, reconciling-item notes and proposed entries, and labels each: supported by a document, suggested by a pattern, or needing an owner. You can also run a close with AI drafting turned off.
Your GL stays
No migration, no new chart of accounts. Yoraito works across 22 named systems, 11 direct.

What changes for each person on the team
| Role | Before | With Yoraito |
|---|---|---|
| Staff accountant | Exports, pastes and matches by hand | Works the exceptions Yoraito couldn't match |
| Senior accountant | Builds rollforwards and flux in spreadsheets | Reviews driver transactions and edits AI drafts |

| CFO | Waits for numbers; asks how they were produced | Gets the locked numbers sooner, with the query behind each |
| Auditor | Requests support; reperforms by hand | Reruns saved queries on the same data |
Measuring the close
Track these before and after, over at least three closes:
| Metric | How to measure |
|---|---|
| Days to close | Business days from month-end to period lock |
| Late adjustments | Entries posted after BD5 |
| Reviewer hours | Time logged on review per close |
| Aged reconciling items | Items older than 60 days at month-end |
| Audit adjustments | Count and value at the next audit |
We don't publish benchmark claims. We help you measure your own.
Questions to ask in any close software evaluation
- Does my ERP stay the system of record?
- How would my auditor reproduce a reconciled balance without your product?
- What does a reviewer see before signing?
- Can AI change anything in my ledger, and under which role?
- What happens in the first close: who does what, and by which date?
