What is the short answer?
Short answer: Botkeeper was an AI bookkeeping platform for accounting firms, working on QuickBooks Online and Xero. In February 2026 Botkeeper announced it was closing; its Infinite platform was later acquired by Xendoo, which says it will remain available. Yoraito is a different product: a month-end close layer for firms, with SQL behind every number a reviewer can rerun.
What happened to Botkeeper?
Botkeeper was founded in 2015 and built AI-driven bookkeeping for CPA firms: transaction categorization, reconciliations, journal entry automation, anomaly flags, document and task management, plus optional bookkeeping staff. On 7 February 2026 its founder announced the company was shutting down (reported by CPA Practice Advisor on 9 February 2026). Xendoo has since acquired the Infinite platform and says it remains available as a standalone product. If your firm was on Botkeeper, you're likely choosing between staying on Infinite under its new owner, moving bookkeeping elsewhere, or rethinking how client closes are prepared and reviewed.
How do Botkeeper and Yoraito compare?
| Botkeeper (as offered before Feb 2026) | Yoraito | |
|---|---|---|
| Category | AI bookkeeping platform for accounting firms | Month-end close, AP and AR layer for firms and finance teams |
| Main job | Categorize transactions, keep books current | Reconcile, accrue, explain variances, sign off and prove the close |
| Ledgers | QuickBooks Online, Xero | 11 direct connectors, including QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite and Zoho Books |
| How numbers are produced | Machine learning categorization with human review | Approved rules run as SQL; AI drafts and explains |
| Reviewer evidence | Bookkeeping review | The rule behind each match, the tie-out and the saved query for every figure |
| Staff option | Optional bookkeeping staff | Assisted Close: a close team on Yoraito (close only, not bookkeeping) |
| Company status | Closed Feb 2026; Infinite now owned by Xendoo | Founded 2026; in early access |
Is Yoraito a like-for-like replacement for Botkeeper?
Short answer: No, and we'd rather say so. Yoraito does not do day-to-day bookkeeping or transaction categorization as a service. It runs the month-end close on top of the books: reconciliations, accruals, flux and sign-off, with evidence. Many firms pair a bookkeeping tool with Yoraito for the close.
Who should not switch to Yoraito?
- Firms whose main need is daily transaction categorization for small-business clients. Look at bookkeeping platforms, including Infinite under Xendoo.
- Firms that want a vendor to supply bookkeepers. Assisted Close is close-only.
- Firms whose clients have no reconciliation, accrual or review requirements beyond basic books.
Who should look at Yoraito?
- CAS teams whose bottleneck is review, not preparation.
- Firms closing clients on several different GLs that want one method and one evidence standard.
- Firms whose clients face audits, lenders or PE sponsors and need a close that can be reperformed.
How do we move client work over?
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Export | Get each client's books current in its GL (QBO or Xero) and export any bookkeeping rules you relied on |
| 2. Pilot | Connect three clients on different GLs; run one close in Yoraito |
| 3. Standardize | Fix your reconciliation and review steps from the pilot |
| 4. Roll out | Move clients in waves of 10 to 15 a month |
